(WTOL) - The alerts have gone out, and students at the University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University are preparing for dangerously cold temperatures.
Administration from both schools are encouraging students to dress in layers, as well as keep an eye out on their email and text alerts for cancellation information.
Students said some of their professors have warned them ahead of time about the possibility of canceling class. And if classes aren’t canceled, there’s a good chance students may stay home.
“Some said they will if it drops low, and others said they might still have them. The ones that might still be I won’t go,” said one UT student.
“As of now I’m saying yes, but I hope we at least get maybe Wednesday off? I know Wednesday the wind chill is supposed to be a lot lower than it is now,” said another student.
The University of Toledo encourages students to report icy spots on campus to their grounds crew at 419-530-1000.
Additionally the university said If you are in need of a warm coat, hat, gloves or scarf, visit Kate’s Closet in the Catharine S. Eberly Center in Tucker Hall Room 0168, where there is warm weather gear available for free, while supplies last.
Each university said it is committed to the safety of its students and faculty, and plan to make the call if classes are canceled as early as early as possible.
BGSU plans to try and make the call on if classes will be canceled by 6 a.m. the day of. That will be announced by the “AlertBG” system, via email and by using social media.
