TOLEDO, Ohio — One person was taken to the hospital following a house fire in an east Toledo neighborhood Saturday evening.
Toledo Fire and Rescue were called to the 1900 block of Idaho Street around 6:45 p.m.
When crews arrived they found a female occupant laying in the front yard who was having difficulty breathing, and had sustained burn injuries. The fire had "fully engulfed" the home, according to a Toledo police report.
A TFRD battalion chief said the victim was suffering from smoke inhalation and had thermal injuries. The victim was taken to the hospital. According to a Toledo police report, the victim was in "critical condition" after the incident.
TFRD crews said the victim was the only occupant of the home, with the exception of several dogs who were all rescued.
There was extensive damage to the home but it’s unknown if it will be a total loss.
