One seriously injured in U.S. 24 crash in Monclova Twp. Tuesday

A pickup truck driver was hospitalized with serious injuries after striking a semi-tractor-trailer and rolling over on U.S. 24 near the Waterville exit, OSHP said.

MAUMEE, Ohio — One person was hospitalized with serious injuries sustained in a crash Tuesday afternoon that shut down a portion of U.S. 24 in Monclova Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

A preliminary investigation showed a pick-up truck, driven by 25-year-old Randall Renshler, of Toledo, was driving eastbound on U.S. 24 when he changed lanes and struck a semi-tractor-trailer combination, OSHP said.

Renshler lost control of his vehicle, crossed the median and flipped over before coming to a rest in the westbound lanes of U.S. 24. Renshler was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated by first responders and taken to the hospital by air ambulance, OSHP said.

The driver of the semi-tractor-trailer pulled over onto the shoulder and was uninjured.

The crash is under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time, OSHP said.

The crash closed westbound lanes of U.S. 24 near the Waterville exit for about two hours.
