TOLEDO, Ohio — At the end of a school year, teachers usually thank their students and wish them a good summer in person. That wasn't possible because of schools moving to distance learning in March.
One Whitmer High School teacher decided she still wanted to show how much she appreciated them this year.
Sabrina Wilson is a special education teacher. She created 'nailed it' care packages to wrap up the school year.
Within the package was a letter to the students and their family, homemade cookie ingredients and other things.
She said she wanted her students to feel like they were able to do something together even though they were apart.
"I put together a total of 25, however only 17 students could be reached. It was kind of a challenge. It was definitely eye opening for me as a teacher to go and deliver these care packages especially during all the quarantine," Wilson said.
When the packages were dropped off she said they were excited and she received both pictures and videos from her students completing it.
The inspiration behind this project came from having her family drop off packages to each other during the beginning of quarantine as a way to keep in touch.
She said she was so excited with the number of students that participated in the activity and sent her pictures for the end of the year presentation.
