Winter at Toledo Farmers' Market still draws in the customers

There isn't a lot of produce to be had but vendors say they are still doing good business in December.

TOLEDO, Ohio — For obvious reasons, the Toledo Farmers’ Market slows down a bit during the winter season, but by no means do things come to a halt.

While it’s true there is less produce at the market, there are still plenty of vendors selling specialty items throughout the winter, including crafts, jewelry, and barbeque sauce.

They say the colder weather hasn’t slowed down business so far this year.

“You would think being on the winter time that business would slow down in barbecue sauce, but it's been nonstop it's been really really good,” said Kyle Baker with Gertie’s BBQ Sauce. “I've gone through two cases in less than an hour already!"

The Toledo Farmers’ Market takes place every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at their downtown location at 525 Market St. behind the Libbey Glass Factory Outlet at the Erie St. Market.

Normal hours at the downtown market and the Wednesday market at Westgate resumes in May.
