WOOD COUNTY, Ohio — The Wood County Health Department's health commissioner announced his resignation to become Bowling Green State University's Chief Health officer.
Ben Batey submitted his resignation Wednesday but will maintain his role as health commissioner until July 24. The open position will be posted here.
The health department said that Batey intends to continue to protect and improve public health in Wood County through a proposed partnership between the department and BGSU.
The proposed partnership will enable the two entities to collaborate upon projects that'll provide educational opportunities for BGSU students and to assist department employees.
The overall goal is to enhance public health instruction, practice,research and workforce development and to improve public health in Wood County.
Further details will be discussed at Wood County Board of Healthy meeting on Monday at 6 p.m.

I’m confident that our experienced staff can maintain the momentum established during his time with the Health Department.”
