Maumee landlord taking care of bed bug problem

MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) - Last week WTOL 11 was the only station to tell you about a bed bug infestation that caused a Maumee couple to move out of their home. Now a solution to the problem is in the works.

Since last week, the Lucas County Health Department has made a trip to the property. They confirmed with us that bed bugs were found inside the building.

They say they spoke with the landlord who has agreed to get rid of the bugs and tenants say they have received a letter from a pest control company on what they need to do before they come out to bomb (or spray) the building.

"They said that they're just going to take care of the situation. And we got the letter today actually that says how to take care of the clothing, how to care with everything, how to store everything," said one tenant who asked to remain anonymous.

She says even though she doesn't have bed bugs in her apartment, she's glad the landlord is taking action.

It is still not clear when the company plans to exterminate.
