TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Former Toledo Mayor and Fire Chief, Mike Bell, made another announcement Thursday morning.
Earlier in the month, Bell announced on the live streaming app, Periscope, that he was once again running for mayor. He used the same platform for Thursday's announcement.
During the announcement, Bell announced further details of his campaign. Donna Owens, Toledo's first female mayor will join the campaign as Bell's honorary chairperson. Madison Avenue Marketing Group, led by Jerry Brown and Michael Seay, will also be part of the campaign.
In a release, Bell said he is collaborating with the best and brightest to get success. He says both the new additions to the campaign bring talent, experience and a unique perspective.
In the Periscope announcement, Bell also spoke about diversity playing a role in his campaign:
"Diversity enhances our quality of life. And when I say diversity, I don't just mean race and gender. I mean sexual orientation, religion, and age. My previous administration was the most diverse the City of Toledo has ever seen in our history. This time will be no different. Diversity improves our quality of life. Inclusion is paramount."
Bell was defeated in the last mayoral election by the late D. Michael Collins.
