TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - The mother of an 18-year-old who died last month playing Russian roulette is talking about what happened -- and she wants to send a message.
She says parents must talk to their children about guns and that assuming kids know the dangers associated with guns could be deadly.
Fitzgerald Robbin's mother Marcy Turner still sometimes forgets her son is gone.
Police say Fitzgerald took a drive with friends, pulled out a gun, started playing a game of Russian roulette and shot and killed himself.
Turner says she feels she's caught in a nightmare from which she can't awaken. She says she never thought her son would touch a gun.
"It is just not enough to educate your children on guns in the home," said Turner. "Because once they leave your door, you have no control over what happens."
Turner, who lives in Toledo, wants more folks to know about gun safety and has joined Cleveland's Stand Against Violence group.
"They have to know (to) move away from the situation, get away from the situation," said Turner. "There is no second guess because a second guess can end in death."
