TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - The doors are officially open at Kengo Sushi & Yakitori on South Clair Street downtown and owners Josh Wagy and Kengo Kato are excited to offer something very unique in Toledo's Warehouse District.
“We're just really excited to be down here, you know, just support downtown Toledo and find a little place like this, just was perfect,” said Wagy. “Chef Kengo is amazing, I mean he worked at a popular restaurant in New York, his training is there. We want to have a fun, cozy atmosphere in here and just a fun place and do rock star food.”
Councilwoman Sandy Spang says the opening of this 23 seat restaurant is just another positive step in the right direction for downtown Toledo.
“This is just another sign of the growing life in our warehouse district and downtown area,” said Spang. “And two great young entrepreneurs, Josh Wagy and Kengo Kato, bringing something really fresh and something new to Toledo.”
“It's a small operation but very, very personal and it looks like it's going to be a great thing for the downtown community,” said Bill Wersell, Vice President of Business Development Services for Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Kengo Sushi & Yakitori Restaurant is now open Tuesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m.
