COLUMBUS, Ohio — On July 1, Ohio will say goodbye to the front license plate on most vehicles.
Back in April, lawmakers passed House Bill 62 requiring only one license plate to be displayed on motor vehicles including passenger vehicles.
The license plate must still be displayed on the rear of the vehicle. However, commercial tractors must display the license plate on the front of the vehicle.
The move will reportedly save the state $1.5 million.
However, the removal of the front license plate has been met with push back from law enforcement members. They argue that front license plates improve public safety and it makes it easier for them to catch criminals.
Ohio is currently the 20th state to get rid of front license plates.
