Pacquiao/Mayweather fight causes cable problems

Buckeye Cable System and other cable and satellite providers Saturday night across the country had many angry customers.

(Toledo News Now) - Buckeye Cable System and other cable and satellite providers Saturday night across the country had many angry customers.

Many Buckeye customers were unable to watch the Manny Pacquiao/Floyd Mayweather fight after paying $100 for the fight. Buckeye says full refunds will be given.

The glitch also shut down programming for most Buckeye customers who didn't order the fight. Technical problems were not fixed until the sixth round of the fight. High demand for the pay-per-view fight caused the outage.

Buckeye spokesman Keith Wilkowski says a glitch in the technology that is delivered to the cable company went haywire.

“"It is complex technology. No doubt about it. It's more complex than it used to be, but it also delivers a lot more than it used to deliver, including HD picture, more channels,” said Wilkowskki.

Refunds will be applied on the next billing cycle and customers do not need to contact Buckeye.

In addition, most Buckeye customers lost all cable service.

To get service back, reboot your cable box.

To do this, shut off your TV and then unplug the power cord from the cable box or wall.

Wait ten seconds, then plug the power chord back into the cable box or wall.

An estimated three million people purchased the fight for $100.
