LUCAS COUNTY, Ohio — The ballots in an Anthony Wayne Schools levy that was projected to have failed will be recounted, according to the Lucas County Board of Elections.
According to certified election results from Lucas, Wood and Fulton counties, 10,436 people voted against the levy, while 10,432 people voted for the levy - a difference of only four votes.
Ballots are automatically recounted if a race falls within a half a percentage. The Ohio Secretary of State's office will conduct the recount. The exact timeline of the recount is unknown.
The proposed five-year, 2.42-mill operational levy was to generate $3.3 million per year to support the day-to-day expenses of the school district.
Voters last approved a new operational levy in 2013.
