Voters in Lenawee and Monroe counties are deciding on multiple races and issues during the primary election.
During Michigan's Aug. 6 State Primary, Lenawee County and Monroe County voters are deciding on several national and statewide races and several local issues.
Polls close at 8 p.m. and WTOL 11 will update you with information from the Lenawee County Board of Elections and the Monroe County Board of Elections throughout the night Tuesday and through Wednesday.
Election results are unofficial until certified by the county boards of election.

- Rome Township Fire Operating Millage Renewal: Renew a property tax of 1.00 mill for four years, from 2024 to 2027. This tax funds fire services within the township and is expected to raise about $88,101 in the first year.

Lenawee County school issues
- Waldron Area Schools Sinking Fund Millage Proposal: Voters are asked to approve a property tax of 1.00 mill for six years, from 2025 to 2030. This tax will fund various school-related needs including building construction or repair, security improvements, technology upgrades, student transportation vehicles, and maintenance equipment. If approved, it is expected to raise about $91,500 in the first year.
- Whiteford Agricultural School District Bond Proposal: Voters are asked to approve borrowing up to $9.6 million for the Whiteford Agricultural School District. The funds will be used to build and upgrade facilities at Whiteford Elementary School, including additions, remodeling, and technology improvements. The money will also go towards constructing and equipping athletic support buildings and fields.
Lenawee County library issues
- Lenawee County Schultz-Holmes District Library Millage Proposal: Voters are asked to approve a new property tax of 1.25 mills for 10 years, from 2024 to 2033. This tax will fund various purposes for the Schultz-Holmes District Library. If approved, it is expected to raise about $468,000 in the first year.
- Stair District Library Millage Renewal Proposal: Voters are asked to renew a property tax of 1.2342 mills for 10 years, from 2025 to 2034. This tax will fund various purposes for the Stair District Library. If approved, it is expected to raise about $205,600 in the first year.
Chapter 2 Monroe County
Monroe County voters will make partisan decisions on one contested primary race for U.S. Senate. Democrats and Republicans have one candidate each listed for the U.S. House District 5 race and for the Michigan House District 30 seat. Republican voters also will weigh in on their choice for Monroe County drain commissioner. Democrats will winnow their choice for delegates to the county convention from seven down to five. Finally, voters in Monroe County will decide on a proposal to renew a levy for senior citizen services.

This tax will fund the operation and maintenance of the township's recycling program. If approved, it is expected to raise about $90,398 in the first year.
Bedford Township Law Enforcement Millage Proposal: Voters are asked to continue a property tax of up to 0.3896 mills for five years. This tax will fund law enforcement services in Bedford Township, including up to four deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and equipment purchases. If approved, it is expected to raise about $571,002 in the first year.
City of Luna Pier Charter Amendment Proposition: Voters are asked to approve an amendment to the city charter that would allow the City Council to levy an additional property tax of up to 1 mill for four years, from 2025 to 2028. This tax would increase the reserve fund for repairs to the city's dike system, including pump stations, gates, earthen dikes, walls, and wave deflectors.
