LANSING, Mich. — Michigan's presidential primary is earlier than in previous years following legislation passed in 2023 moving the primary election date up to February from August.

On Tuesday, Feb. 27, Michiganders will cast their ballots in the presidential primary, choosing to either vote in the Republican or Democratic primary. Voters are only allowed to vote in one of the party primary elections.

Voters will not need to designate which party's primary they will be voting in prior to receiving their ballot. If a voter votes in more than one party's primary, their ballot will be voided.

Ballots could also include local millages, ordnances or other local elections, based on where you live.

Voters can find what will be on their ballots here, just select the Presidential Primary option in the "Election" pull down menu then fill out the additional information.

The Michigan presidential primary ballots have already been announced by Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and the following candidates will appear on every Michigan ballot:

Democratic Party Presidential Primary Ballot Choices in Michigan
