BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Bowling Green State University students have the opportunity to participate in research being conducted on Ohio voters ahead of the November election through two non-partisan polls.

The university's Democracy and Public Policy Research Network, part of its department of political science, already sent one poll in September and will send the second in October, according to a press release.

“We are a nonpartisan network,” said founding director Robert Alexander, a BGSU political science professor. “The data we collect will be used to help inform future research, journalists and policymakers. We also aim to help voters make informed decisions before heading to the polls.”

A five-person team is behind developing, ordering, testing and analyzing the polls' questions, according to the university. Students also learn about public opinion polling and how to collect and analyze data.

Alexander said in the press release he hopes to further include students in future research endeavors like this one.

“I see this as an opportunity to provide our students with hands-on experiences, learning and research,” he said. “Our network will empower students to engage in public opinion polling, write policy briefs and engage in development activities."
