The League of Women Voters of Ohio visits Ohio State University in Columbus Sept. 26, 2024, as the group works to register and engage student voters.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A local chapter of a national nonpartisan organization focused on voter education and advocacy is hosting an event to share information and "how-to's" ahead of Election Day.

The League of Women Voters of Toledo-Lucas County, a nonprofit founded in 1921 to educate citizens to make informed choices when voting, is hosting "Getting Ready for Election Day - Know the Facts" to discuss a variety of topics.

"During a time of misinformation and emotions, it is good to have a game plan before casting your vote," a spokesperson for the organization said in a media release. "Some of the information being shared at this event may seem simplistic, but it is valuable."

Topics include finding your voting location, getting to the polls, researching candidates, local ballot issues and knowing your rights as a voter, according to the League.

"This is a perfect event for those wanting information about what will be on their ballot and what IDs should they be taking to the polls," the League of Women Voters said. "This is also perfect for those who will be voting for the first time."

The presentation will be hosted by Judy Hoelzle, co-vice president of the organization and member of the League's voter services committee.

"Getting Ready for Election Day - Know the Facts" is Oct. 21 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Monroe Street Methodist Church, located at 3613 Monroe St. in west Toledo. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend. Registration is not required.
