TOLEDO, Ohio — Anita Lopez won the Democratic primary for Lucas County commissioner, defeating Paula Hicks-Hudson Tuesday, according to unofficial election results.
The former Lucas County auditor, Lopez was appointed by the county's Democratic central committee in January to fill the commissioner seat vacated when Tina Wozniak retired.
Hicks-Hudson is a former Toledo mayor and city council member who has most recently served in the Ohio state House of Representatives and the Ohio state Senate.
Republican John Rozic ran unopposed in the Republican primary for the same commissioner seat.
Commissioner Pete Gerken also is seeking re-election to his commissioner seat and he was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Tom Waniewski also ran unopposed in the Republican primary for that seat.
