TOLEDO, Ohio — Election Day is drawing nearer and Ohioans and Michiganders continue to cast ballots in early voting.
How many people have voted early in Ohio and Michigan ahead of the election on Nov. 5? Here's a look at the numbers.
Ohio
According to the Ohio Secretary of State's early voting dashboard, as of Wednesday, Oct. 30, there have been 2,276,440 ballots requested — 1,151,582 of those were absentee ballot requests and 1,124,858 were for early, in-person voting.
Of the absentee ballots requested, 827,254 have been returned. All ballots requested for early, in-person have been returned, for a total of 1,952,112 ballots cast.
Ohio's overall ballot return rate is 72%.
In Lucas County, 35,961 absentee ballots have been requested with a 69% return rate and 37,243 early in-person ballots have been cast. Lucas County has the sixth-highest number of unreturned ballots at 11,000.
Cuyahoga County has the highest number of unreturned ballots in the state at 56,000.

Michigan
The Michigan Secretary of State's voting dashboard shows that, as of Wednesday, 30.3% of registered voters in Michigan — about 2.2 million — have cast an early ballot (505,683) or returned an absentee ballot (1,692,076).
In Lenawee County, 20,954 absentee ballots have been requested, 80% of which are for permanent mail ballot voters, meaning they have opted to receive absentee ballots ahead of elections. 2,953 early in-person votes have been cast.
