PERRYSBURG, Ohio — Perrysburg voters have rejected a new 3.5-mill levy to pay for new school construction and renovation of existing buildings in the rapidly growing school district, according to unofficial election results.
The ballot measure included a combination of a 2.65-mill, 36-year bond levy and an 0.85-mill continuing levy. Altogether, the measure would fund a total construction and renovation project of about $88 million.
Plans for the revenue include building a new elementary school for 800 students in the southwest portion of the district, near the high school and Hull Prairie Intermediate School. The district also plans to expand and renovate three elementary schools — Toth, Woodland and Fort Meigs.
The levy would have cost property owners $123 for every $100,000 in valuation.
