LUCAS COUNTY, Ohio — Eyes nationwide have been on Ohio since former President Donald Trump selected JD Vance as his running mate.
How do members of the Lucas County Young Republicans feel about the choice?
Member Patrick Richardson says Vance brings diverse voices to the forefront as a 39-year-old.
"I think it's great. I've been saying for a long time that my generation, the millennials, have been vastly underrepresented in all levels of government and in both parties, frankly. So I think to have a vice presidential nominee that's in his 30s is fantastic," Richardson said.
Shane Logan another member of the young Republicans, also feels Vance on the ticket will benefit Ohio.
"I think, to the pride that Ohioans should have, whether you're Democrat or Republican to know that Trump picked someone from our state, I think it's a really, really good thing. Embodiment of the Midwest, those Midwest values that we share," he said.
"I think he brings a tenacity and a different perspective that the party hasn't really seen before.
And now I'm having on a national level." Logan added, saying that he is also looking forward to Vance's speech at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday.
Brady, a member of the Washington Local Schools board said he thinks Trump's selection is a good addition to the Republican ticket and it will greatly benefit Ohio in many ways.
"I think Sen.Vance brings good support to not only the white collar, where he's from, but, the blue collar voters in Toledo and Columbus and Dayton, Cincinnati, those big areas," Hall, who said he is an independent, told WTOL 11. I think he'll definitely pick up some votes for the Trump-Vance ticket."
