LENAWEE COUNTY, Mich. — A trial date was set Wednesday for Dale Warner, the Lenawee County man accused of killing his wife, Dee Warner, who was reported missing in 2021 and whose remains were discovered and identified this year.
Dale Warner appeared in the Lenawee County Circuit Court via video call Wednesday morning for a pretrial hearing. His attorney, Mary Chartier, appeared in person. The prosecutor in the case, Jackie Wyse, was also present.
During the hearing, which lasted about two minutes and came in between hearings for defendants in other cases, Dale's trial date was set for Sept. 2 through Oct. 14. The judge also scheduled a final pre-trial conference for Aug. 27.
Family of both Dee Warner and Dale Warner were in court to watch the hearing. Dee's brother Gregg Hardy said it was good to have a trial date set. Hardy said that, alongside the criminal case, the family is pursuing civil litigation against Dale Warner's family.
This came nearly five months after a judge determined there was enough evidence for the case to go to trial after a preliminary examination, and two months after remains found in a storage tank on a Warner property were determined to belong to Dee.
Dale, whom prosecutors claimed killed Dee, first reported Dee missing in April 2021. He was charged with murder in 2023.
