ADRIAN, Mich. — The family of missing Lenawee County woman Dee Warner will be holding a rally on Sunday, November 26 in hopes of bringing awareness and encouraging authorities to take action on a case they do not want to go cold.
"This is right at the Thanksgiving holiday and if you think about it, this is the third Thanksgiving holiday that my sister and her family have not been able to gather," said Gregg Hardy, eldest brother of Dee Warner.
WTOL 11 was in the courtroom this summer when the family made its case in front of a Lenawee County judge, presenting evidence they believe proves Dee Warner is dead. It was also revealed that the Michigan State Police were investigating Dee's disappearance as a homicide, with her husband Dale being the primary suspect.
Months later there's been no ruling on Dee's Declaration of Death and no word if charges will be filed against her husband.
This has Dee's family feeling frustrated.
"It seems as though our air came out of our sails," says Hardy. "We had some momentum up and we lost it because we're not getting that ruling from the judge."
Now the family is planning a rally in downtown Adrian, hoping the community will come together and voice their opinions on the case in a way that encourage action by those in charge of it.
"There's something to be said about expediency. And there's something to be said about following procedures and collecting evidence, and doing all those things," said Hardy. "But it's now three years, okay, so I think it's important to highlight the fact that this much time has gone on and it's very important for the community, to get some kind of accountability. Some kind of response."
