LENAWEE COUNTY, Mich. — Michigan State Police crews were investigating near the site of the Warner residence in Lenawee County Tuesday, a day after a judge declared Dee Warner dead.
Late Tuesday morning, groups of MSP officers could be seen at a site near Munger Road, where Dee Warner formerly resided and was last seen in 2021. The location was a place of interest early on in the case.
The Lenawee County Sheriff's Office searched the area in 2021, but the case was turned over to Michigan State Police in 2022. Kathryn Adams, head of Justice for Dee, said this was the first time state police have searched the area.
"It's definitely a painful but necessary step towards getting our justice for Dee," Adams said. "It's very hard to continue to open that wound constantly."
Detectives were also on the scene earlier Tuesday but had since left the area. Adams provided the following images of the area:
WTOL 11 traveled to Lenawee County to the location on Munger Road and saw MSP in the area.
WTOL 11 reached out to MSP regarding the search, but a detective said there would not be an official statement released.
MSP also conducted searches of 70 properties off M-50 between Beebe and Pentecost highways in Lenawee County in May of 2023.
Dee Warner's family has suspected Dale Warner, Dee's husband, of killing her since she disappeared in April of 2021. Though a Michigan State Police investigator testified in 2023 that officials believe she is dead, her remains have not been found.
In November of 2023, Dale Warner was charged with murder. He has pleaded not guilty.
Dee Warner was 52 when she was last seen in the early morning of April 25, 2021, at her residence on Munger Road in Franklin Township, Mich. She has not had any contact with her family or friends after she went missing.
