ADRIAN, Mich. — A Lenawee County judge has reduced the bail for Dale Warner, who was charged last week with murder in the case of his long-missing wife, Dee Warner.
Judge Laura Schaedler reduced the bail amount for the murder charge $20 million to $10 million during a Monday proceeding in Adrian. The judge also ordered Warner's bail for a second charge of tampering with evidence at $5 million.
To be released from jail pending trial on the charges, Warner would need to post a bond of 10% of the total bail amount.
Dale Warner's attorney argued Monday the $20 million bail was too high and that his client was not a flight risk.
Prosecutors argued that Warner has a large amount of money at his disposal and that he has taken six trips out of the country since December, 2021.
The judge ordered the bail reduction, but also ruled that Warner must surrender his passport, along with the passport for his minor child. Warner also must wear a GPS tether, the judge ruled.
Dee Warner was 52 when she was last seen in the early morning of April 25, 2021, at her residence on Munger Road in Franklin Township. She has not had any contact with her family or friends after she went missing and her remains have not been found.
Her family, including adult children from a previous marriage, have suspected Dale Warner of killing Dee Warner since she disappeared. The family has pushed law enforcement to charge him and in 2022 they filed a petition to ask a probate court to declare Dee Warner dead.
Dale Warner, 53, was taken into custody Nov. 21. During his arraignment on Nov. 22, he pleaded not guilty.
