TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Some light may soon be shed on residents in one south Toledo neighborhood.
A measure is currently before city council calling for the installation of 22 streetlights at the Gardenview Homes development, between Airport Highway and Angola Road.
The owner of the development, based in Columbus, has made the request, with the goal of providing a new safety measure for residents.
Those living in the neighborhood say they're glad to hear the proposal is moving forward.
"It's hard, because when it's pitch black, you don't know what you're seeing," said Star Land, who lives there. "When you got to turn on your porch light every morning when you wake up, that's when you know it's bad."
City council could vote on the issue as early as next Tuesday. If approved, the city would pay for a small portion of the cost, but that would be covered by property tax assessments.
