TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - You can now enjoy tours on the Maumee River.
New owners Paul and Jodi Lis have opened the Sandpiper for the 2017 season.
"We're expecting to see more people down here than we've ever had living down here," said Paul Lis. "Doing daily commute coming and taking a ride after work."
Passengers can travel along the Maumee River for about 30 minutes and enjoy views of Toledo and river wildlife.
The Sandpiper can hold 100 people and has given tours in Monroe, Michigan and numerous Detroit River locations for 33 years.
"It was built at the Andersons fab shop in Maumee, Ohio," Paul Lis said. "It was put in the water by Big Lucas, which is a local caribe so it's definitely heritage to downtown Toledo."
Paul Lis used to captain the Sandpiper on its tours.
The Sandpiper gives tours through October and also offers private party options.
"The Sandpiper family has been great," Paul Lis said. "We've still got a lot of help from the previous owner and most of the captains came along with us too."
The boat departs from the Sandpiper Boat Dock on 1 Jefferson Avenue.
