TOLEDO (WTOL) - The Yark Automotive Group received a new Jeep Gladiator on Saturday.
The price for the Rubicon model is kind of high: $62,000. While the base sport model sells for $37,000.
But this tricked out model has been accessorized for off-road fanatics.
“It’s the first truck you can actively take the roof off. There’s all kinds of customization you can do with it. Different look for a mid-sized truck,” Jake Mallett, sales manager of Yark, said.
The Gladiator is a truck version of the Jeep Wrangler.
Mallett believes the Gladiator will eat up half if not more of Wrangler sales.
It’s also expected to steal customers away from Ford and Chevy.
“Everything seems to be trending towards SUVs and trucks. This is going to be an additional option for them so it’s only going to help that segment of sales,” he said.
Yark has already pre-sold about ten of the 419 launch model Gladiators.
An additional ten to fifteen are expected to be delivered in the coming week.
The Gladiator delivered Saturday was sold within three hours.
