Toledo man to be extradited for Monroe Co shooting

Jermaine Jackson, 19, is currently being held at the Lucas County Jail with no bond pending attempted murder charges from a Sunday shooting in Monroe County.

MONROE COUNTY, MI (Toledo News Now) - A Toledo man will be extradited to Monroe County after a shooting early Sunday morning in Bedford Township.

Police say it happened at a party on the 3600 block of Smith Road. Deputies arrived at the scene around 12:45 a.m. After conducting an investigation, it was discovered that Demetrius Davis, 19, of Toledo had been shot three times and taken to ProMedica Toledo Hospital by an unknown person.

Davis was still listed in critical condition Monday.

The suspect, 19-year-old Jermaine Jackson of Toledo, had fled the scene on foot and was later arrested by Toledo Police at his south Toledo home.

Monroe Sheriff Detectives responded to the location and were able to locate the gun believed to have been used in the shooting.

Jackson is currently being held at the Lucas County Jail with no bond pending attempted murder charges out of Monroe County. It remains unclear when he will be formally charged.

Jackson also faces multiple charges in Toledo:

  • Aggravated Menacing for threatening to shoot a Toledo cop
  • Obstructing official business
  • Resisting arrest
  • Disorderly conduct while intoxicated

Jackson will be back in court Monday to face extradition to Monroe County.
