TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - Toledo Memorial park has been here since 1922, and has owned the piece of land for a long time. Just recently, the owner developed this area into a pet cemetery after people were asking to be buried with their pets.
"Some of our families ask about having their pets buried with them, and unfortunately the state of Ohio doesn't allow us to do that. So, we've got together with our sales team and they, we, all decided that maybe we should try to do something for our pets," said the CEO of Toledo Memorial Park Jeffery Clegg.
Pet lovers who've saved their pets' ashes for years can now bury the ashes in this area as well. It cost $400 to give a pet a spot in the cemetery, a vase holder and a marker with your pets picture.
The grand opening of the pet cemetery is this weekend. There will be games for families, pet groomers and even a pet psychic. It's happening Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Proceeds and food donations will go towards Humane Ohio.
