TPD launches interactive crime mapping system

The new system allows you to search an area for reported crimes. You can even sign up for alerts when something happens in your area.
The interactive map gives you a closer look at reported crimes in the targeted area. You can then sign up to receive future alerts.

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - The Toledo Police Department has announced the release of a new crime mapping system for citizens.

The system allows you to select an area on the map of Toledo, enter a date range, select the desired types of reported crimes, and search up to a half-mile radius. Then by clicking on the crime icons, you can see the type of crime reported, when and where it occurred, along with the report number.

You can even submit a tip on an occurrence, which will be automatically forwarded to the police department.

An added feature of the system is the crime alert, which will send an e-mail when a crime report is generated within the desired target area. All you have to do is choose your location, the crimes you want to track and create an alert.

The department says this new enhancement to the website is an easy and convenient way for citizens to see exactly what is happening in their neighborhoods in a timely fashion, and will better empower them to keep their communities safe.
