TOLEDO (WTOL) - Toledo police have released a new way for Toledo residents to keep up on crime in the city.
The new online crime map, called Community Crime Map, analyzes crime data, alerts Toledo citizens about crime in their area and allows the Toledo Police Department to quickly alert the public about crimes as they occur, according to TPD.
The map gives a view of all the incidents on the map along with basic information about the incidents, including the type of crime, location type, block-level address, date and time.
“You might hear somebody got robbed, and maybe they didn’t get robbed, maybe their house was burglarized which is completely different. So you can look up your neighborhood, you can see the crimes that have occured in that neighborhood, whether it be a theft of a vehicle or a burglary, and you can get that information for yourself rather than hearing it second or third party," said Lt. Kellie Lenhardt with Toledo Police Department.
Citizens can view the map with all of the crimes in their area, sign up for neighborhood watch reports that email a breakdown of recent crime activity and submit an anonymous tip about a crime directly to their law enforcement agency.
TPD says Community Crime Map automatically syncs with Toledo Police records systems to keep crime information updated online and in the mobile app.
The map is a partnership between Toledo police and LexisNexis Risk Solutions.
