TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - A Toledo mother, accused of killing her six-month-old son, was formally charged in the death of her 6-month-old son Wednesday.

20-year-old Ariana Cannon is charged with aggravated murder, murder and endangering children. She pleaded not guilty to all counts.

Cannon continues to be held in the Lucas County jail.

Police were sent to Toledo Hospital on Sunday, Aug. 8 for an injured child, Carsyn Cannon, who was brought in by his mother.

The child later died at the hospital the following Tuesday.

According to court documents, baby Carsyn had a skull fracture and a fractured leg. Investigators say the injuries were not the result of an accident.

The Toledo Police Department arrested Cannon the next day for the crime, which they say happened at an apartment complex on Norwich near Reynolds where they were living.

Neighbors say they are shocked at what happened.

"I have two kids and i can't imagine hurting them, let alone killing them," said neighbor Lydia. "It breaks my heart. You go so long, there are people who can't even have kids and want kids so bad and then there are people who can't even keep them alive. I think she should go to prison, she killed her six-month-old. That baby didn't have a chance for anything."

Cannon's trial has been set for Dec. 14. If convicted, she could face life in prison.
