Two dead, one critically injured in accident east of Bowling Green

Two men were killed and a third seriously hurt Friday morning when their vehicle left the road, smashed through a guardrail, and flipped several times in a field outside of Bowling Green.

BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) - Two men were killed and a third seriously hurt Friday morning when their vehicle left the road, smashed through a guardrail, and flipped several times in a field outside of Bowling Green.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says Devin M. Richards and Christon Williams, both age 23 and both from Sandusky, OH were killed in the crash. OSHP says they were both ejected from the car. A third man, 26-year-old Phillip Lemon of Sandusky, was seriously hurt in the accident.

The patrol says Lemon was able to walk to a nearby home to report the crash, but then had to be flown to a Toledo hospital by helicopter when emergency crews arrived. He is reported as being in critical condition.

The accident happened early Friday morning near the intersection of Bowling Green Road and Housekeeper Road east of Bowling Green. Police say the car failed to make a turn and hit a guard rail before flipping.

Bowling Green State University posted to their Facebook page Friday afternoon, saying Richards was a student there, studying general business management. The university said grief counseling will be available as needed through the Teaching and Learning Center.

BGSU also said, "Condolences to Devin's family may be sent to sympathy@bgsu.edu, and we will deliver them. We offer our prayers and support to Devin's family and friends at this very difficult time."

The patrol says it is still unclear who was driving at the time of the crash. They believe alcohol or drug use was a factor.
