Wood County Fair offers free admission Monday

The Wood County Fair continues Monday, Aug. 10 with free admission but with limited exhibits.

WOOD COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) - The Wood County Fair kicked off Monday, Aug. 3 and as always it was a busy week.

This year, people got half-off admission by bringing a canned food item from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday. Organizer say it was a way to keep the shelves stocked at local food pantries, and draw more people to the grounds.

The fair will also be free Monday, Aug. 10 but with limited exhibits.

Monday Schedule:

  • Livestock Sale Day
  • Kid’s Day Ride Special: 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Demo Derby Day
  • Catch a Pig Contest: 5 p.m.
  • Demolition Derby: 7:30 p.m.

Fair organizers say that with all the events happening throughout the week, the fair is great for the economy.

"There's a lot of different things, and people have to buy goods, and things like that," said fair treasurer, Dale Brown. "Our fair is a pretty good size fair, and it promotes a lot of things and helps a lot of businesses around town, and they support us back too."

The Wood County Fair continues through Monday, Aug. 10.

Fair Hours:

  • Monday-Thursday, Sunday: 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Friday and Saturday: 8 a.m. to midnight.
  • Monday, Aug 10: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. (free admission, limited exhibits)
