FORT SENECA, Ohio — Northwest Ohio will see a total solar eclipse on April 8 and many area businesses are preparing for the increase in area visitors.
Grant Fatzinger opened Copper Mare Ranch just outside Fort Seneca to bring rodeos, barrel races and horse boarding to the area.
After hearing that his full-time day job is making special plans for the upcoming eclipse in April, Grant knew he could host events as well.
That's why he is opening up his ranch property to host up to 400 campsites on their more than 20 acres of property from Friday through the Monday of the eclipse.
"It's a great opportunity. We're really excited to put everything together and for people to come in and see the area," Fatzinger said. "We have plenty of room to accommodate people and we're excited to have people here."
They also plan to host multiple events throughout the eclipse weekend as well, including their Rocket Donkey Diner service, an evening party atmosphere in the outdoor ring and historic ghost walks through the small village.
"This is one of the most historic areas in northwest Ohio. This is the old Army road from the War of 1812," Lisa Strickland, operator of the Rocket Donkey Diner said. "So there's a lot of activity in Fort Seneca."
Fatzinger and Strickland said there are still plenty of spots available.
Most current reservations are from out of the region or state, but they'd love to offer their wide-open property to anyone who wants to make a "staycation" weekend trip from the area as well.
"Where we are at right now, there's no obstructions, no buildings," Strickland said. "It's a clear shot."
