What is the total solar eclipse?
A total solar eclipse will cast the shadow of the moon on a narrow path across the Earth with the direct path of totality across northern Ohio. A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the sun.
Where will the eclipse be visible?
In North America, the path of totality for the April 8 total solar eclipse will cross through Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and into Canada.
Locally, Toledo and the surrounding northwest Ohio area will be a great place to experience the eclipse!
Forest, Ohio, at the border of Hardin and Wyandot counties, will experience totality the longest of anyplace in our area, with nearly four minutes of totality.
