TOLEDO, Ohio — The University of Toledo football team has officially entered into championship week.
After beating Central Michigan last week, the Rockets now get set for the Mid-American Conference Championship game on Saturday against Miami.
On Monday, running back Peny Boone was named the MAC West Offensive Player of the Week. He finished with 186 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the win over the Chippewas.
UT is ranked No. 23 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and finished the regular season with 11 straight wins. Their only loss was to Illinois in week one.
Now they will get ready for the RedHawks, a team they beat in week eight, 21-17.
"This one's for all the marbles. This is what we've talked about since back in January," said head coach Jason Candle. "Hopefully Ford Field is packed with midnight blue and gold and we show a great representation of what this city can do and what it looks like for what we consider close to being a Rocket football home game."
