Ohio State's Ryan Day named a semifinalist for George Munger Award

The award, established in 1989, recognizes exceptional leadership, strategic innovation and significant impact on the game of football.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State head coach Ryan Day was named a semifinalist for the George Munger College Coach of the Year Award on Wednesday.

Day is one of 16 semifinalists, including four from the Big Ten Conference.

The Buckeyes finished the regular season with a 10-2 record and Day now has a 66-10 record as Ohio State's head coach.

Day has led Ohio State to four College Football Playoffs since his initial year as head coach in 2019 and is the only coach to have advanced to four of the last six CFPs.

The 10-win season for Ohio State this year is the 31st in school history.

The award, established in 1989, recognizes exceptional leadership, strategic innovation and significant impact on the game of football. It was named after George Munger who served as the head coach of the University of Pennsylvania football team from 1938 to 1953.

Finalists will be announced on Dec. 24 and the winner will be named on Jan. 9.
