CLEVELAND (WTOL) - If all goes well, Toledo born-and-bred Matt Eberflus could become the Cleveland Browns’ next head coach.

The Colts defensive coordinator and former Toledo Rockets linebacker became the latest prospect to coach the Browns when he was interviewed for the job on Sunday.

Eberflus was coming off a big playoff win ahead of the interview as the Colts defense held the Texans to just 7 points on Saturday.

Eberflus was the Browns’ linebackers coach in 2009 and 2010.

The Browns are taking their time to get the decision right. Eberflus is the sixth candidate to be interviewed and likely won’t be the last.

Other interviewees include Browns’ interim head coach Gregg Williams, Patriots defensive coordinator Brian Flores, former Colts’ and Lions’ head coach Jim Caldwell, Saints’ assistant head coach/tight ends coach Dan Campbell, and Vikings’ interim offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski.

Colts’ offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni, Browns’ offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens, and former Packers’ coach Mike McCarthy could also be interviewed.

Eberflus played for Toledo from 1988-1991. He attended Whitmer High School.
