SYLVANIA, Ohio — The second round of the LPGA Dana Open is in the books with Chanettee Wannasaen sitting alone atop the leaderboard heading into the weekend.
Wannasaen, of Thailand, came into the second round Friday two shots back of the lead. She was propelled in the second round by five birdies and an eagle on her final hole of the day. She enters the weekend -11.
"I think on the front nine, I didn't play good either. It's like birdie and then bogey and then like par, par, and then birdie again," Wannasaen said. "On the back nine, I played really good. The putter was really good on the back nine.
Now Wannasaen sets her sights on the weekend where she will look to stay atop the leaderboard as she seeks her second career victory.
"I think on the weekend I will do my best," Wannasaen said. "I don't want to get stressed for the weekend."
Linn Grant, of Sweden, and Xiyu Lin, of China, are both tied for second place at -10 heading into the third round on Saturday. Grant, last year's Dana Open champion, shot -6 for the day with eight birdies, five coming on the front nine.
"I tried to play very aggressive. I felt after yesterday that I really had some good game going and hit some great shots. So I just felt that I could really go out and be aggressive," Grant said. "I feel like my game is very good. I feel like I left a couple out there today even. If I can just go out tomorrow and Sunday and give myself as many opportunities as possible, I think it could be really good."
Lin shot a second-round 67 with five total birdies on the day.
"Like yesterday at the back nine, I really found some rhythm and found something in the swing, and I think today I started off really well," Lin said. "I feel like I haven't really been in contention for a while so I'm excited to be back in this position. Let's just see what weekend brings us."

Friday was also "Lexi Thompson Day" at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania. The Florida native recently announced that she would retire from full-time competition after the season. A large crowd gathered around the 10th tee as she began her second round. The 180th Fighter Wing also provided a flyover before she teed off.
"Amazing feeling. A lot of adrenaline and emotion. A huge honor for Judd [Silverman], the tournament director, to allow today to be 'Lexi Thompson Day.' I said no at first because I didn't really want that kind of attention because it's all about all of us women out here on the PGA tour, it's not just about me," Thompson said. "Very honored and so amazing to see all the great fans around the first hole and then the flyover, that was incredible. It was just a great day overall. I'm very appreciative for just being out here."
