FINDLAY, Ohio — On the Friday before Christmas, Javonte Hill recorded one of the more remarkable stat lines of the young high school basketball season: 19 points, three dunks and one appearance on SportsCenter.
The senior led the Findlay Trojans to a 67-45 handling of previously-undefeated Whitmer with his high-flying play. Hill also knocked down a triple and went two of three from the free-throw line.
"It's just a huge win for us," Hill said. "Gives us a lot of confidence at the beginning of the year. This is a great ball club. We'll have to see them again later in the season. We'll have to change some things up."
The Trojans are currently a perfect 5-0 on the season, while Whitmer dropped to 4-1. Hill's body language on the court says he's having as much fun as anyone playing.
"Oh yeah, a lot of fun," Hill said. "I don't know, it's fun when you're winning. We were having a great time playing together, playing as a team and just doing what we love, so it was awesome I loved it."
The second of Hill's dunks, a putback slam following a teammate's three-point attempt, landed at No. 2 on ESPN's SportsCenter.
The highlight wasn’t even Hill's first time on the worldwide leader in sports. During the football season, Hill had a one-handed catch, leading to a 40-yard touchdown versus Central Catholic. That play also landed at the No. 2 spot.
