HAMLER, Ohio — Adversity is bound to encounter a team's season at one point or another.
And when Patrick Henry's QB1 went down, backup quarterback Lincoln Creager knew he had to rally to keep their season alive.
"I was nervous," Creager said. "Scared 'cause I knew at the time we were 5-0, 6-0. We hadn't lost yet and I got thrown in and I didn't want to ruin the seniors' year."
Not only has Creager led his team to a final four by clinching a regional title win last Friday over McComb, but he also tied the school record of five touchdown passes in a single game. This is in addition to a rushing touchdown of his own.
"I knew he was the type of kid that would never back down to a challenge and for him to rise up at that level in that big of a game to get to the final four, it doesn't surprise me about Lincoln," said head coach Bill Inselmann. "But you know to say that I expected that in a regional final game, no."
Although Creager can add the record to his resume, he attributes the success to his team as a whole. And wants to finish this season on a high note.
"To be honest I just kind of throw it up there and my receivers make plays and I wouldn't be able to even throw it if my O-line didn't block for me," Creager said. "So I don't really enjoy saying that it was my individual record cause honestly it's a team record. We just don't want this brotherhood to end, we've really grown close together and I hope for the future I can keep leading our team next year and going into my senior."
