TOLEDO, Ohio — With the boys' tennis state tournament happening in Wooster, the northwest Ohio region is well represented.
One of the local kids competing in the tournament for the second straight year is St. Francis de Sales junior Nick Miller.
He says the prep for the tournament from 2023 to now doesn't change much.
"Kind of just the same as last year, really," Miller said. "Just really excited to play singles this year other than doubles. It's definitely going to be a new environment. Mentally, I'm just trying to be relaxed. Trying to enjoy every step of the way, really."
Miler made the switch this season from competing in doubles to singles. In fact, he was the only local singles player in Division I to qualify for state.
"Last year was fun having a teammate on the ride in doubles," Miller said. "It's a little different just being individually."
Looking ahead to the tournament, Miller said the key to a good showing is not worrying about the outcome.
"I think just play hard," Miller said. "I shouldn't really be worried about winning or losing. If I give it my all, I'll be satisfied."
