TOLEDO, Ohio — The number 2 is all around Raheem Brown.
The senior is a two-sport athlete (football and basketball), plays both sides of the ball in football, wears it on his back and is just as about as dynamic as it gets.
“He’s just as electric on the basketball court as he is on the football field,” said Josh Lindke, head football coach of St. Francis de Sales High School. “He’s electrifying and he’s a kid that sparks big plays. Big plays usually find him, so it’s always nice to have that on your team and on your side.”
Teams at the next level have picked up on that too, as Brown has received Division I interest this summer.
“He’s a kid that really has some opportunities at the next level with both sports because he is as advertised when it comes to both those sports,” Lindke said. “You pinch yourself as a coach seeing how electric he can be and then reminding yourself that he’s on your team so you’re drawing stuff up for him to go score a lot of touchdowns and make a lot of plays.”
But aside from all the accolades, Brown’s focus right now is to give the Knights a better chance at success than last season by scoring more touchdowns. And he feels best equipped this year with a coach like Lindke in charge.
“It’s been a long journey,” Brown said. “Especially with a lot of different coaches. But coach Lindke is probably one of the best ones since freshman year."
“If our team is doing well, he’s going have a chance to do well individually,” Lindke added. “We know he’s got a lot of talent and we’re just trying to put him in the best position to be really successful for us.”
