OHIO, USA — Central Catholic, Perkins and Liberty Center football all secured victories Friday night and will play for a state championship next week.
In Division III, the Fighting Irish won in thrilling fashion over Youngstown Ursuline, scoring in the final minute to win 7-6.
CCHS now gets set to play Bishop Watterson Friday, Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. in a rematch of last year's state title game. The Irish are looking to win their third consecutive state championship.
In Division IV, Perkins avenged last season's defeat in the playoffs to Glenville, beating the Tarblooders this time around 13-11.
The Pirates now advance to their first state title game since they won it all in 1999. They will play on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. against Indian Valley.
In Division V, Liberty Center took care of business against South Range and won 48-14 to advance to their second straight state title game.
The Tigers will take on Ironton on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 3 p.m. and look to win their first state championship since 1997.
All state championship games will be played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton. Here's the rest of the matchups set to take place:
- Division I: Olentangy Liberty vs. Archbishop Moeller - Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m.
- Division II: Anderson vs. Avon - Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.
- Division VI: Coldwater vs. Kirtland - Saturday, Dec. 7 at 10:30 a.m.
- Division VII: Danville vs. Marion Local - Friday, Dec. 6 at 10:30 a.m.
