Findlay QB Ryan Montgomery named finalist for Ohio Mr. Football

Montgomery finished the season 228-of-333 for 3,018 yards with 35 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also helped lead the Trojans to a share of the NLL title.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Findlay High School quarterback Ryan Montgomery was named as a finalist for the 2023 Ohio Mr. Football Award.

He's one of eight finalists for the prestigious award that was announced on Wednesday by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association

Montgomery finished the season 228-of-333 passing for 3,018 yards with 35 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also helped lead the Trojans to a share of the Northern Lakes League title.

He is ranked as the No. 9 player in the state for the class of 2025, according to 247Sports. In August, the star quarterback narrowed down his college choices to Georgia, Florida, Michigan, South Carolina and Penn State. 

Earlier this season, Montgomery broke the single-game yardage record held by Ben Roethlisberger in 2000, throwing for 491 yards and six touchdowns in a win over Southview. 

Voting by OPSWA membership for the award ends at noon on Monday, Nov. 27 and the winner will be announced at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30.
