TOLEDO, Ohio — A local high school athlete is in the running for making the best play of the year and you can help him secure the top spot.
Damien Harrington, a linebacker for Waite High School in Toledo made a spectacular interception during on September 26 in a game against Bowsher.
Harrington is seeking votes for the Sports Illustrated Football Play of the Year, which compiles 22 of the best plays of the year and puts them up for a vote.
The contest runs through Wednesday.

Even if he doesn’t win, Harrington has already received notoriety for the one-handed grab. The play already earned play of the week honors for Sports Illustrated on October 1. In addition, the play was featured in the number one spot of ESPN SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays.
Perhaps most impressing, Harrington’s interception was the play of the week on WTOL 11’s Big Board Friday show on September 27.
