Bowling Green football beats Akron 41-14 for second straight win

BGSU's Terion Stewart rushed for three touchdowns as the Falcons improved to 4-4 on the season and 2-2 in the MAC.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — The Bowling Green State University football team picked up a win on senior day, beating Akron, 41-14.

The Falcons second consecutive win moved them to 4-4 on the season and 2-2 in the Mid-American Conference. 

Running back Terion Stewart carried the load for BGSU's offense. The Sandusky graduate rushed 19 times for 131 yards and three touchdowns in the game.

Quarterbacks Connor Bazelak and Camden Orth both saw playing time. Bazelak finished the day 6-11 passing with one touchdown in rainy conditions. Orth added one passing touchdown in the game as well.

Bowling Green's defense was also strong in the game, forcing four turnovers on two interceptions and two fumbles.

“This was a great win as we enter the month of November," said Loeffler. "Everyone remembers what you do in November, so we get that opportunity to do that in the next four weeks.”

“It was awesome. That is what football is all about. We had a good crowd, pouring rain, perfect football weather," said linebacker Darren Anders. "Definitely the most rain we have had since I’ve been here. My last Saturday game at the Doyt, just trying to enjoy every moment and take advantage of it. I think we did take advantage of it. It has just been awesome.”

BGSU's next game will be on Wednesday, Nov. 1 against Ball State at home as mid-week MACtion gets underway.
