WATCH: Michigan's Donovan Edwards runs for 2 touchdowns in first quarter of national championship game

The running back for the Wolverines scored twice in the opening quarter as Michigan took a 14-3 lead.

HOUSTON — Michigan running back Donovan Edwards provided some early fireworks for the Wolverines in the opening quarter of the College Football Playoff national championship. 

The running back scored a 41-yard touchdown on the opening drive of the game to propel Michigan to an early 7-0 lead.

Then later in the first quarter, he broke free again for a 46-yard touchdown to extend the Wolverines lead to 14-3. 

After one quarter, Edwards has two carries for 87 yards.
